On Saturday, February 11, members of the Franciscan Network for Migrants met virtually to celebrate the World Day of Prayer and Reflection against Human Trafficking.<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n<\/blockquote>\n

The motto for this year was \u201cWalk in Dignity.\u201d This day is commemorated every February 8, the day on which we celebrate the memory of Saint Josephine Bakhita (1869-1947), a Sudanese nun who was a victim of trafficking and canonized by Saint John Paul II in 2000.<\/span><\/p>\n

Each of the moments of prayer was carried out by Fr. Ignacio Ceja Jim\u00e9nez, OFM, Vicar General, Br. Ren\u00e9 Flores, OFM, member of the Network\u2019s team Panama, and Sister Carmen L\u00f3pez, HFMI, from Casa del Migrante, Frontera Digna, Mexico.<\/span><\/p>\n

Each World Day of Prayer and Reflection against Human Trafficking is accompanied by the motto, “A light against trafficking,” which is why the participants in the meeting prepared candles that were lit at the time in order to symbolize the commitment of the Network to fight against one of the evils that continues to brutalize especially women and girls.<\/span><\/p>\n
