Who We Are<\/span><\/h5>\n

History of the Network<\/h2>\n

The Franciscan Network for Migrants emerged in April 2018 at the JPIC Conference in Guadalajara, Mexico. The work of La 72, a migrant and refugee shelter on the southern border of Mexico, inspired conversations among the friars about how to share information, and offer support and protection for people who have been forcefully displaced due to situations of extreme poverty, institutional violence, organized crime, and drug cartels, and other individuals and groups who would exploit their vulnerability, particularly to the people of the northern triangle of Central America: Honduras, El Salvador and Guatemala.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Franciscan Network for Migrants is a network of franciscan-hearted people, lay and religious, who offer support, humanitarian assistance and welcome to people displaced from their countries of origin.<\/span><\/p>\n

Our Mission<\/strong><\/h2>\n

The mission of the Network is to promote and defend the dignity of each person in order to ensure best practices of integration of and encounter with the migrant person.<\/span><\/p>\n

Improve<\/strong> direct services and deepen the impact of coordinated promotion at the national and international levels.<\/span><\/p>\n

<\/span>Increase<\/strong> the sustainability of migrant shelters houses by establishing and supporting replicable self-sustainability model projects.<\/span><\/p>\n
